THE PROBLEM OF HAVING SWELLING IN THE CHEEKS OR LIPS OF THE VAGINAL(Bartholin Cyst)
Bartholin glands are usually found on the sides of the cheeks / lips of the vagina. It is very small and works to make fluid that keep the vagina moist and to prevent dryness.
This fluid is transmitted to the vagina through small ducts. When there is a blockage, inflammation fills occur and causes the gland to swell,This is called BARTHOLIN CYST

Experts so far have no definite answer as to why the blockage occurs and causes inflammation. But it is associated with sexually transmitted infections such as gonorrhea etc
WHO IS AT RISK?
Women between the ages of 20 and 30, however, can also occur at other ages. The likelihood of developing a problem decreases with age. 2 out of 10 women suffer from this problem
SYMPTOMS
You may have no symptoms until the swelling gets worse or you get a bacterial infection,which will includes;
• Severe pain in the Bartholin cyst
• Pain during sexual intercourse
• Pain when walking
• Larger swelling can lowers the vaginal cheek in the affected areas
• Fever (due to infection)
• Discharge (discharge)

MEDICINE
1 • If you are under 40 and the swelling does not cause any problems, do a “Sitz Bath” – Put warm water in a basin and soak for 15-20 minutes, making sure the water covers the entire vaginal area. Do this 3 times daily for 4 days. The swelling will completely disappear and return to normal
.
2 • If swelling is a problem, the doctor will decide between the following treatments
》 Surgical Drainage
》 Marsupialization; This will prevent the problem from recurring
》 Surgery to remove all glands • If Tests show you have an STI you will also get the relevant Treatment
